This is either crazy news or a weird, elaborate April Fools' joke, but apparently a Starman remake is in the works from Night at the Museum and Real Steel director Shawn Levy.

Starman is a retro sci-fi romance from the 80's starring Jeff Bridges and Karen Allen (of Indiana Jones fame), which follows an alien that crashes to Earth and assumes the form of a woman's dead husband. He drags her along as he tries to return to his planet, and they fall in love while the government pursues him, naturally.

According to THR, who broke the news, the reboot will be written by Arash Amel, best known for penning the screenplay for the Nicole Kidman film Grace of Monaco. He also wrote The Titan, a sci-fi indie starring Taylor Schilling, Sam Worthington, and Tom Wilkinson, which follows a military family taking part in a genetic experiment.
