There Are More Rumored Spider-Man Movie Titles--But Homecoming Is Somehow the Best One
Yesterday, the internet was buzzing with the reveal that Sony had registered the domain name SpiderManHomecomingTheMovie, leading to speculation that the title of the new reboot might be Spider-Man: Homecoming. There have, of course, already been complaints that this title is terrible, but if it makes fans feel any better, the other domain names registered to Sony are even worse.

According to the eagle-eyed fans at BBC (via Ain't It Cool), Sony has also registered the domains SpiderManComingOfAgeMovie.com, SpiderManGreatnessAwaitsMovie.com, and SpiderManSuspendedMovie.com. So that means so far, our options are Spider-Man: Homecoming, Spider-Man: Coming of Age, Spider-Man: Greatness Awaits, and Spider-Man: Suspended. None of these options are great, but the new ones are considerably worse; Coming of Age is way too on-the-nose, Suspended is too juvenile even for Spider-Man, and Greatness Awaits is hilariously overwrought. I'm not a huge fan of Homecoming, but it does seem like the least of all evils at the moment.

That being said, it's still very early, and it's very possible that none of these titles will be correct. Sometimes domain names reveal the actual title of a movie, as was the case with Spectre, but often they turn out to be completely wrong, as was the case with Batman v Superman (although honestly, I like "Darkness Falls" or "The Darkest Hour" better than "Dawn of Justice").

The Spider-Man solo film is set to hit theaters on July 7, 2017.
