New Trailer Continues to Make Suicide Squad Look Like a Blast
A new Suicide Squad trailer is here, and it continues to make Suicide Squad look like the lightest, most enjoyably DC film we've seen since the pre-Nolan days:

Between another perfect music choice in Ballroom Blitz and a generally light touch, Suicide Squad looks like it has the potential to be a whole lot of fun. I'm NOT on board with the blatant objectification of Margot Robbie (didn't she get shoddy enough treatment in The Big Short?), but Harley Quinn seems great in general, and the irreverence would be a welcome change, especially after the self-serious trainwreck that was Batman v Superman.

To be fair, though, the jokes themselves aren't all that funny on their own (although I did like the "vexing" line), which wouldn't worry me except for those rumors that all of the jokes are being shown in the trailers. I would say that hopefully those rumored multimillion dollar reshoots are doing the trick, and we're finally getting the humorous DC movie that villains like Joker and Harley deserve, but director David Ayer shot down those rumors this morning:

I'm not sure if this is good or bad news? It could mean that the movie was already funny enough to begin with, or it could mean that they're not making an effort to respond to what fans liked about the trailer. We'll see when Suicide Squad comes out in theaters on August 5.
