Obi-Wan Lived Through His Fight with Vader in the Original Star Wars Script
Peter Mayhew is at it again. The Chewbacca actor has been tweeting out pages from the original script for A New Hope (or technically pages from "Adventures of Luke Starkiller: Journey of the Whills") for months now, and after dropping the unsurprising bomb that Han did, in fact, shoot first, he's treated us with an actual surprise: Obi-Wan Kenobi's iconic death in A New Hope was not in the original script.

Some fans already knew that the decision to kill of Obi-Wan was somewhat last minute, as Alex Guinness wrote in his autobiography that George Lucas decided after they started filming and took him aside on-set to tell him the news. But it's still interesting to think about (and see), since Obi-Wan's death was so crucial to the arc of the trilogy, and especially for the development of Vader's character. Plus, if Obi-Wan hadn't died, how would he have become "more powerful than [we could] possibly imagine"?
