Jon Favreau Is Returning to the MCU
The Marvel Cinematic Universe (MCU) is the highest-grossing film franchise of all time, and with a number of likely blockbusters on the docket, it doesn't look like they're going to be overtaken anytime soon. And it might not have happened without Jon Favreau. The filmmaker directed the first MCU film, Iron Man, which became a surprise hit in 2008 and paved the way for everything that came next. Favreau then directed Iron Man 2, and served as executive producer on the other Iron Man-starring films: Iron Man 3, The Avengers, and Avengers: Age of Ultron. But Favreau was not involved with this year's Captain America: Civil War, which heavily features Iron Man, and that caused some fans to believe that he had left the MCU for good. But that's not the case.

In a new interview with Digital Spy, Favreau revealed that he's returning to the MCU - and soon.

Opening quote
"I'm going to be executive producing the Avengers films with the Russo brothers, which I'm very excited about. I talk to them about it all the time. I've worked both in front of and behind the camera with Marvel and I really love what they're doing right now. It's a really exciting time to be over there. I've seen a rough cut of Civil War and it's fantastic. We're constantly looking for things to do together. And now I'm freed up."

We're definitely of the opinion that the MCU is a better place when Favreau is in it, so we certainly welcome this news. Who knows, maybe he'll even get in the director's chair for another Iron Man film? Stranger things have happened.
