The Evolution of Iron Man - Tony Stark has Changed A Lot Since the 1960's
For many people, Robert Downey Jr. is Tony Stark through and through. And, while it certainly seems as though RDJ was born to play the role of the billionaire playboy/metal-clad superhero, there have been many on-screen iterations of Iron Man over the years. Certainly, it's thanks to RDJ's performances in Marvel's 2008 Iron Man movie that Tony Stark has become a household name, but as many Marvel fans will know, he'd already been on our TV screens for decades before making it to the big screen.

The folks over at Burger Fiction (via Reddit) have put together an exhaustive retrospective of Iron Man's on-screen escapades, and it's an absolute must-view for even casual Tony Stark fans.

From wearing what we can only imagine was mechanized spandex back in the 60's to metallic armor with bizarrely lifelike abs, Iron Man has seen many different looks over the years. But it wasn't until the 1990's that Iron Man really became an on-screen presence in his own-right. In 1994, Iron Man was given his own cartoon series as part of the Marvel action hour, and it was during this time that he begun to resemble the modern mech we all know and love now. But as cool as the 90's were, we can't stop watching the footage of 1960's Iron Man and his power jet shoes.
