8 Marvel and DC Characters Jeff Goldblum Could Play
Jeff Goldblum pretty much makes anything he's in worth watching, so we would be over the moon to see him accept a superhero (or supervillain) role. Although it technically hasn't been confirmed yet, the Independence Day: Resurgence actor heavily implied that he was in talks for a comic book movie role while speaking to MTV News:

Opening quote
"I can say very little right now," Goldblum when asked if he has ever been approached for a Marvel or DC film. "But you might be onto something."
Closing quote

As we all know, "I can't talk about it" pretty much means that something is in the works and the actor is afraid of Marvel/DC's spoiler-prevention assassins. So when asked whether it was Marvel or DC, he stayed completely mum: "I'm in both camps. I'm open to all."

So who could it be? We have a few guesses, eight to be exact, and we think Goldblum would kill it in any of these roles:

Eobard Thawne - The Flash

This seems like the most likely one. The news just broke today that The Flash movie is casting five supporting characters, including the supervillain Eobard Thawne/Reverse-Flash. The casting breakdown described the character as "Central City's Bill Gates" and "the smartest man in the room," who suffers from advanced degenerative disease "like Stephen Hawking" and is confined to a wheelchair. If they're going to do that, they might as well just cast Tom Cavanagh in the role, but this also sounds absolutely perfect for Jeff Goldblum.

Vulture - Spider-Man: Homecoming

Spider-Man villain is almost equally likely to Eobard Thawne, since Michael Keaton just dropped of early talks, and Goldblum is a similarly established actor. Goldblum would make an amazing Norman Osborne, but we've now seen him (and Green Goblin) in two different Spider-Man series in the last decade, so we're hoping they won't recycle that villain again. Vulture seems more probable, since he would be a good fit for either Keaton or Goldblum (although it would have been very meta to see Keaton play this role coming off of Birdman).

Ego the Living Planet

This one isn't quite as likely, but it's our favorite option. A few months ago, there was a rumor that Ego the Living Planet is the main villain of Guardians of the Galaxy Vol 2, and now that we have the image of Jeff Goldblum's voice booming out from a face on an egomaniacal planet, we can't get it out of our heads. Goldblum would be a great fit for Marvel/Guardians' lighthearted, whimsical tone, and we're pulling for this casting to happen.

The Riddler - The Batman

We arguably have enough Batman villains in the DCEU from Suicide Squad, but they'll probably add another for the Batman solo movie, and Riddler is arguably the most iconic Batman villain that hasn't been included yet. And we'll just say it right now, Goldblum would make a PERFECT Riddler. We definitely need Edward Nygma in the Batman rogues' gallery, and Goldblum's light touch would be a welcome addition to the DCEU.

J. Jonah Jameson - Spider-Man: Homecoming

We loved, loved J.K. Simmons as J. Jonah Jameson, but since he defected to DC, Goldblum would be a great candidate to replace him. He would have a very different interpretation of the character, as it should be, but would be an equally formidable opponent.

Maximus - Inhumans

We don't really know anything about the Inhumans movie yet, including when it's going to come out, so it's probably too early for Goldblum to be in talks for this role. However, he would be a fitting choice for Maximus, Black Bolt's genius supervillain brother who can control minds, and considering how well-received Loki has been, we'd love to see another Marvel villain with a family connection.

Dormammu - Doctor Strange

This is cheating a little bit, since Dormammu is an interdimensional entity who can look like anyone in his human state. However, he's by far the most famous Doctor Strange villain from the comics, so if Mads Mikkelsen really isn't playing him in the first film (we have our own theories on that), then we'd love to see Jeff Goldblum play him in the sequel.

Ghost Rider

All right, this one is a little bit of a joke. We're not sure if Goldblum could actually play this character, but a Netflix series has been rumored for quite a while, and he couldn't do a worse job than Nicolas Cage, right?
