Watch the First Trailer for Stephen King's Zombie Novel Adaptation "Cell"
The first trailer for the long-developing adaptation of Stephen King's Cell is out, and it features a ton of John Cusack and Samuel L. Jackson going all Rick Grimes on a bunch of cell phone-obsessed zombies:

I have very mixed feelings about this movie. On the one hand, there's a lot of talent in the cast, and King adapted the script himself, which bodes well. And while parts of the plot seem a little generic (has there ever been a character who wasn't looking for their lost child in the apocalypse?), the book received mostly positive reviews, and the trailer looks like it could be violent and silly in a great way. But on the other hand, the premise might be a little too technophobic to really land with most viewers, and the film is getting a VOD and then limited release, which doesn't bode too well. Plus, the poster looks like it's straight from a 90's B movie, but maybe that's the point?

Cell

The official synopsis reads:

Opening quote
Clay Riddell, a New England artist, is a witness to an ugly phenomenon: a mysterious signal broadcast over the global cell phone network turns the majority of his fellow humans into mindless vicious animals. Now he and a few survivors must find and stop 'the pulse' and the person controlling it and reunite with his young son before it's too late.
Closing quote

Cell comes out on VOD on June 10, and then in limited theaters on July 8.
