'Blade Runner 2' Casts Dutch Actress in Lead Role
Blade Runner 2 is going to be here before we know it. So soon, in fact, that the film begins shooting this July. And although the cast isn't quite completed yet, it sounds like they've just found their last big piece of the puzzle. According to The Wrap, Dutch actress Sylvia Hoeks has been cast in a lead role, to star alongside Ryan Gosling, Robin Wright, Dave Bautista, Ana de Armas, and of course, Harrison Ford.

You probably know Hoeks from... OK, we'll be honest, it's unlikely that you know her from anything. Looking at her IMDb page, she doesn't seem to have starred in any major American projects yet, so our audiences may get their first introduction to her in the Blade Runner sequel. Which, if you ask us, is a pretty good place to make your Hollywood debut.

The long-overdue sequel hasn't announced any plot details, but it's being directed by Denis Villeneuve, the helmer of last year's superb Sicario. And if you're a purist who's upset that Ridley Scott isn't directing the sequel to his sci-fi classic, don't be; he's serving as executive producer. The new film is also co-written by Hampton Fancher, who co-wrote the 1982 original, which should satisfy many hardcore fans.

With the cast filling out and shooting to start soon, we're still holding out hope that M. Emmet Walsh will return as Captain Bryant. Come on, somebody please make this happen!
