Kevin Feige Says Marvel Has Creative Control Over Spider-Man: Homecoming
Spider-Man: Homecoming is quite literally a "homecoming" for Spider-Man, as fans were ecstatic when the character finally returned to Marvel for the rebooted film series, although it was billed as a joint effort between Sony and Marvel. But it seems that fans have even more reason to rejoice, as Kevin Feige says that Marvel is "making the creative decisions" for the Spider-Man solo movie.

While promoting Captain America: Civil War, in which Tom Holland's Peter Parker will make his first appearance, Kevin Feige was asked how the collaboration between Sony and Marvel will work, and his answer will make fans very happy:
Opening quote
"Well, I've known all those people for a very long time. Amy Pascal, Tom Rothman, who runs Sony now, I've known for years. So, it's been great, I mean they really are supportive in allowing us to make the creative decisions to make that movie, but they've been great partners. So far so good on that movie."
Closing quote

We can't say for sure, but it really sounds like Marvel has primary creative control over the film. I'm sure Sony has input on creative decisions here and there, but if there's a positive working relationship between the studios and Marvel mostly has free reign, that can only mean good things for the movie.

And the movie already sounds pretty great, as Tom Holland is already getting rave reviews for his turn in Civil War, and the film will co-star high-profile actors like Marisa Tomei and Zendaya. The film sadly lost Michael Keaton as the main villain, but they gained an appearance from Robert Downey Jr.'s Iron Man as a consolation prize.

Spider-Man: Homecoming hits theaters on July 7, 2017.
