The Original Ghostbusters Movie is Coming Back to Theaters
The Ghostbusters franchise is back in the public consciousness again this year, but while not all fans have fallen in love with Paul Feig's upcoming reboot, there's no denying that the original movies still hold a special place in all our hearts.

When Bill Murray, Dan Aykroyd, Ernie Hudson, and Harold Ramis appeared as the original Ghostbusters in 1984, they instantly built up a huge fan base, and after posting a significant figure at the box-office, a sequel was put into the works and released five years later in the summer of '89. The franchise also spawned a highly successful cartoon series titled The Real Ghostbusters, which ran for five years between 1986 and 1991 and is personally one of my favorite childhood cartoons.

Now though, we're being given the chance to see the original Ghostbusters as the were always intended to be seen, on the big screen at our local movie theaters. On June 8th of this year, Fathom Events (a joint venture of AMC, Regal and Cinemark) will be bringing Sony Pictures' 1984 classic back to theaters for special screenings across the country. All in, some 750 locations will be hosting the special screenings, but if you're unable to make it on the first date, a number of locations will also be holding encore events on June 12th.

If you live near New York City, BBQ Films are joining in the fun with three days of immersive Ghostbusters screenings at a Williamsburg Warehouse in Brooklyn. These events, in the Ghostbusters' home city, will allow those lucky enough to get tickets to take proton packs for a spin, sit in an Ecto-1 replica, and of course, watch a screening of the movie itself.

Tickets for the screenings go on sale May 6th and can be purchased at BBQ Films.
