Karl Urban Confirms Talks for a Dredd Sequel Series on Netflix or Amazon
2012's Dredd film was an amazingly entertaining and faithful adaptation of the Judge Dredd character, and while it flopped financially at the time, it has gone on to become a cult classic. Now that it has a passionate following, and rebooting old properties has become all the rage, Karl Urban has turned to Netflix and Amazon to make a sequel series and/or film. And now, the actor has apparently confirmed that talks are actually taking place, bringing us one step closer to seeing his Dredd back on our screens.

Urban set the internet on fire last week when he revealed that he was down for a Dredd sequel on a streaming site:

Immediately, fans started adding their voices to the call for a Netflix or Amazon series, with a recent petition citing the success of properties like Daredevil, Jessica Jones, The Man in the High Castle. If there's anything we've learned from Firefly, Veronica Mars, and Gilmore Girls, fan support can make all the difference when it comes to reviving a long-defunct property, and the fans are definitely clamoring for it, as the petition has already reached about 200,000 signatures and the Facebook campaign already has almost 103,000 likes.

And it looks like all of that support has finally paid off. Urban appeared at the Calgary Comic and Entertainment Expo this week in Canada, and according to a tweet from an attendee, the actor said in his panel that "conversations are happening" for a streaming series or film sequel (although he didn't specify whether the talks were with Netflix or Amazon). To be fair, the comment is extremely vague, and doesn't necessarily mean that the talks are going anywhere. But from the sounds of it, if we continue to show our support, there's a much better chance that we might get to see Urban's Dredd grace our screens again.
