Arrow Season 5 Will Be a DC Version of Daredevil vs Punisher
We still have a few episodes left of Damien Darkh's reign of terror, but Arrow producers are already looking towards potential antagonists for season five, including a villain/antihero series regular who basically sounds like a Punisher rip-off.

TV Line reports that Arrow is casting a character named James (although that might be a code name to hide his comic book origins) to serve as a foil for Oliver, an "irrepressibly charming contemporary" who is described as a "man on a mission" and "out to avenge a tragic, violent loss." He's also described as potentially dangerous and physically imposing, but he's a regular, so he's probably more antihero than villain. So, the Punisher.

He might be a little more lighthearted than The Punisher, however, and a little more sociopathic. He's characterized as a person who can "just as easily shake your hand as your best friend or break your neck as your worst enemy - and you never know which one is coming. Either way, he's more than capable of having a good time as he does it."
All jokes aside, we're on board with this. After the success of Daredevil vs. Punisher and the popularity of two superheroes facing off, it only makes sense that other superhero properties would want to do their own version of this formula. As long as it's as thoughtful and interesting as Daredevil vs Punisher and nothing like Batman v Superman, we'll be happy campers.

Arrow airs on Wednesdays at 8pm on The CW.
