Simon Kinberg Confirms the Next X-Men Movie is Set in the 90's
With Simon Kinberg's latest X-Men trilogy taking us on a tour of the 60's, 70's and 80's, 90's kids are likely to be waiting in anticipation for their favorite mutants to pay a visit to the decade they grew up in. But with Kinberg labeling the 80's adventure of X-Men: Apocalypse as a conclusion to a trilogy of movies, there have been rumors that all this time-hopping might be behind us. Thankfully, during an X-Men: Apocalypse press junket, Kinberg revealed that our favorite mutants will be paying a visit to the decade that gave us pop culture classics like the Spice Girls and Space Jam.

"The next one is set in the '90s," Kinberg told ComingSoon. Such news will no doubt be music to the ears of folks who grew up watching X-Men The Animated Series throughout the 90's, but there remains a decent amount of mystery as to what form this movie will take.

If Apocalypse truly is the conclusion of a trilogy, it leaves the fate of some of the movie's new stars significantly in the balance. Sophie Turner, Tye Sheridan, and Alexandra Schipp, all play characters that featured prominently in the 90's era of the X-Men. So far, though, only the latter has been linked with a role in New Mutants, which is the next planned X-Men movie on Fox's slate along with Wolverine 3.
