Simon Kinberg: Professor X Will Most Likely Appear in the New Mutants Movie
As if we needed another reason to be excited about the New Mutants movie, X-Men producer Simon Kinberg revealed that we'll be seeing an older mutant in the upcoming spin-off: Professor X.

We recently got word that the New Mutants team will tentatively include Magik, Wolfsbane, Mirage, Sunspot, Cannonball, and Warlock (while Alexandra Shipp's Storm is also rumored), which means a script must be well underway. We were more concerned with whether Deadpool's Negasonic Teenage Warhead would make an appearance, but while promoting X-Men: Apocalypse, Kinberg confirmed another fan favorite altogether (so long as the script doesn't significantly change):

Opening quote
"Right now, as the movie exists, Professor X would be a part of a New Mutants movie," Kinberg told Collider.
Closing quote

An appearance from Professor X makes perfect sense, since he would likely be instructing young mutants at Professor Xavier's School for the Gifted. Considering how crazy the X-Men timelines have gotten, it's a little unclear which version of Professor X it would be, but we're guessing it would have to be James McAvoy, especially since he appeared with Alexandra Shipp in Apocalypse (and lost his hair!). Plus, Kinberg recently confirmed that the next X-Men film (which is most likely New Mutants) would take place in the 90's, so McAvoy's Xavier would be tapped for that timeline.

X-Men Apocalypse hits theaters on May 27, while the New Mutants movie doesn't yet have an official release date, but it is rumored to be the untitled X-Men film coming out on June 13, 2018.
