Hopefully You Weren't too Attached to Your Marvel & Star Wars Infinity Games
Disney has announced that they are discontinuing their Disney Infinity video game line. The series had allowed users to blend characters from Marvel and Star Wars together, along with other Disney and Pixar properties, by using toys that would come to life in the game.

This is obviously bad news for Infinity gamers who enjoyed mixing up their Marvel and their Star Wars, since they will have no new characters to look forward to from either franchise, as the only new toys heading to the game will be the already-announced releases of Alice in Wonderland: Through the Looking Glass and  Finding Dory over the next couple of months.

Not only is Disney shuttering Infinity, and taking a $147 million write-off in doing so, but they're also shutting down their entire self-publishing video game business. That means that any future games featuring Marvel or Star Wars will not be produced in-house by Disney, but will instead be licensed out to other studios.

However, if you're more of a Star Wars: Battlefront type of gamer, you can rest easy. That game was already licensed out for development to Electronic Arts and was not produced in-house by Disney, and EA just announced that a sequel to the popular game will be arriving next year; and it's even going to feature content from the new movies.

So there you have it. When Disney closes a door, they open a window.
