Rumor: The Main Villain for Justice League Part One Has Been Revealed - And It's Not Darkseid
Batman v Superman was nothing if not a commercial for the DCEU, and ever the promotional images came out for that Knightmare sequence, fans have been speculating that the primary villain for the DC cinematic universe would be Darkseid. That has been all but confirmed since then, but if a new rumor is to be believed, a different villain will take center stage in Justice League Part One. Even more, we've already caught a glimpse of him in a deleted scene for Batman v Superman:

In this weird, nonsensical deleted scene, Lex Luthor appears to be having a vision of a horned, modular monster while bathing in Doomsday goo. According to a new report from Birth.Movies.Death., the monster is, in fact, a version of Steppenwolf, who is Darkseid's uncle in the comics. The report claims that Darkseid will show up briefly at the end of Part One, but Steppenwolf will be the main villain, and then Darkseid will be the main antagonist of Part Two.

Steppenwolf

This rumor should be taken as just that, a rumor, since the report doesn't cite or even mention any sources, but it's certainly possible. If Darkseid is a Thanos-like villain of the overarching universe, then it makes sense to have another baddie for Part One before fully revealing the Big Bad in Part Two, and it's hard to imagine that this random monster would have been teased in a vision if it weren't a hint to future movies. To be fair, the monster doesn't really look anything like Steppenwolf aside from the horns, but considering that they made Doomsday look like a booger-colored Ninja Turtle, this could definitely be the DCEU's version of the comics supervillain.

Batman v Superman's extended cut comes out on Blu-ray sometime this summer, while Justice League Part One hits theaters on November 17, 2017, and Part Two comes out on June 14, 2019.
