Report: Comic-Con to Launch Its Own Awards Show on Comic-Con HQ
This has the potential to be really, really fun. According to a new report from Deadline, Comic-Con International and Lionsgate are currently working on a deal to launch an awards show devoted to Comic-Con devotees, to air on Comic-Con HQ, the new channel that exclusively airs content of interest to attendees.

The report claims that David Glanzer, Chief Communications and Strategy Officer for Comic-Con International, and Jen O'Connell, Lionsgate head of alternative programming, are working together to make this awards show happen, although nothing's official yet. There's also no word on what the awards would focus on exactly, but I think it's safe to assume that there would be some sort of cosplay award/beauty pageant, right? Or maybe the awards will be completely unconnected, and the cosplays will be the equivalent of red carpet fashions.

Comic-Con HQ just launched in beta last weekend, and will officially premiere next month ahead of San Diego Comic Con, which will take place on July 21-24.
