Lupita Nyong'o in Talks to Join Black Panther
After her debut as Maz Kanata in Star Wars: The Force Awakens, Lupita Nyong'o might join Disney's other huge cinematic universe. According to a new report from THR, the Oscar winner is in negotiations to co-star alongside Chadwick Boseman in the upcoming Black Panther solo movie.

There's no word on who Nyong'o might play, but the role is reportedly T'Challa's love interest. I can only hope that if they do enlist a talented actress like N'yongo, she's given more to do than just serve as a perfunctory love interest, but it's possible that she'll play a romantic interest who is also a superhero in her own right, like Wasp. In the comics, Black Panther has been married to Storm from X-Men, which can't happen in the Marvel universe since Fox has the rights, but at least there's precedent for a superpowered T'Challa love interest.

Black Panther will be directed by Ryan Coogler, best known for Fruitvale Station and Oscar nominee Creed. Chadwick Boseman's T'Challa made a triumphant entrance in Captain America: Civil War, but no other casting announcements have come out yet. The film is set to come out on February 2, 2018.
