Is Willem Dafoe Playing Orm the Ocean Master in Justice League Part One?
A lot of rumors have been coming out recently concerning Justice League, including who the main villain will be and how the infamous Darkseid will come into play throughout the movie. Many of those rumors have come from Birth.Movies.Death, who've just added yet another to the list.

In a recent report, the site explains a scoop they've received about how the underwater action scenes will be filmed differently from the mini-clip of Aquaman that was featured in BatmanSuperman (something that many fans complained about, as Momoa was noticeably holding his breath - something Atlanteans don't do underwater). In the report, they also mention that actor Willem Dafoe, who was recently confirmed for the film, will be playing an Atlantean as well.

Birth.Movies.Death has had a few reports come in recently that seem to have been proven accurate. However, they have been off in the past on a variety of things, and when rumors come out so far in advance from the premiere of a movie, they tend to be more inaccurate than otherwise. That being said, the site has proven reliable on a number of issues, and so this scoop does indeed deserve consideration.

If Dafoe really is playing an Atlantean in the movie, who could he be playing? When he was first confirmed, it was said that he would be "a good guy," something that disappointed a lot of fans after his spectacular performance as the villain, Green Goblin, in the original Spider-Man film. However, it's still entirely possible that he starts out as a good guy in Justice League, but changes sides by the time the Aquaman film comes around. If that were to be the case, then it would make perfect sense that Dafoe would be playing Orm, the Ocean Master.

Orm is Aquaman's half-brother, having two full-blooded Atlanteans as parents. As Amber Heard, the actress playing Mera, is also white, it would make sense that the Pacific Islander in this version of Aquaman comes from his father, a lighthouse worker named Tom Curry, and not from the Atlantean side of his family.

Ocean Master could be an ally in Justice League Part One, and then change sides in Aquaman, much like he does in the Geoff Johns comic arc, Throne of Atlantis. In the comic, Atlantis is hit by a few underwater missiles, something that makes Orm, the reigning King, believe that the mainland is attacking them. Atlantis then begins a war on the mainland, something that the Justice League has to work to stop. In the end, it's revealed that Aquaman's adviser and friend, Vulko, had orchestrated the entire plot in order to get Aquaman to return as the rightful King of Atlantis.

It would also make sense that Dafoe is playing Ocean Master, seeing as how much secrecy has been given to the role. Think about it - JK Simmons' casting as Commissioner Gordon wasn't something that was kept quiet. If Dafoe was playing a minor, supporting role in the DCEU (such as Vulko), why keep it so hush-hush?

The one thing that could contradict this is Dafoe's age (he's over 25 years older than Momoa). However, there are a number of ways this could be explained, such as if the cinematic Atlanteans have longer life expectancies. If he's not Ocean Master, however, Vulko is also another feasible candidate.

It's always possible that the report may turn out to be inaccurate, or that Dafoe is in reality playing a much different character. From the current evidence, however, it's also entirely possible that he could be playing Ocean Master. If so, it would mean that Dafoe possesses a major role in the DCEU, and that he'll indeed be playing a villain. That's certainly good news, because who doesn't want to see this guy fighting against the hero again?
