Greg Berlanti Talks Booster Gold Movie
A few months back, it was rumored that a Booster Gold/Blue Beetle team up movie might be in the works, and though Warner Bros. never said whether or not that was the case, Greg Berlanti, the show runner of the Flarrowverse, has just confirmed that it it's in the works. Here's what he had to say in a recent interview with the Hollywood Reporter:

Opening quote
If Warner Bros. TV executives asked you to be the Kevin Feige - who is the creative mastermind of Marvel - of the DC Cinematic Universe, what would you say?

It's never even really come up. Peter [Roth, president of Warner Bros. TV] knows how much I love the characters, and I like being part of this universe in any way that they'll all allow and are interested in me being a part. That's the truth. I'm attached to a few films [at Warner Bros.] now, and one, Booster Gold, is a DC property. Zack Stentz, who wrote an episode of Flash last year, just got the job, so he's writing the script now. I'd probably direct that, or I would want to. But I don't see my cup as limited. I actually think some of the stuff we get to do on the TV side is richer, deeper and more like the true comic books in the sense that you're always able to explore a new thing the next week and the stories grow wider and wider.
Closing quote

It's definitely exciting to hear that even more DC movies seem to be on the way. Of course, this is in no way a confirmation that the movie's actually going to get made - everyone's seen how quickly projects like this can end up in developmental hell. However, it's certainly a good sign that more scripts are currently being penned for future DC projects.

The only superhero movie Berlanti has been connected with so far is the Ryan Reynolds Green Lantern disaster, but in his defense, the script was changed beyond recognition for that project. It would also make sense as to why he would be pursuing a B list character like Booster Gold when there's arguably a dozen other more popular characters deserving of solo films as well - it's less of a risk. Then again, maybe Berlanti just really likes Booster Gold.

Berlanti has proven his talent since the Green Lantern days, especially on The Flash. It's arguably the best superhero show currently on television, and that's been very much due to Berlanti's approach to the show, which he outlines in the interview - "heart, humor, and spectacle." Interestingly enough, he also says he would deny a chance to direct The Flash movie if he's asked, because he couldn't do another Flash project without Grant Gustin in the mix as well.

Booster Gold is definitely an interesting character, and the humor associated with the superhero is very much up Berlanti's alley. Perhaps it's one of the unnamed projects currently slated for 2019 or 2020. If so, folks could be seeing the hero hit the big screen sometime in the next few years.
