Jeff Goldblum and Karl Urban Cast in Thor: Ragnarok
It looks like Jeff Goldblum wasn't just blowing hot air about being cast in a superhero movie, as the Jurassic Park and Independence Day actor has officially been cast in Thor: Ragnarok, along with Dredd and Star Trek's Karl Urban.

Goldblum will play the "eccentric" Grandmaster, a Marvel Comics character and one of the Elders of the Universe, who possesses a cosmic life force that renders him ageless and has mastered all of humanity's games. Urban will play the "mighty" Skurge, an Asgardian and longtime antagonist of Thor's.

The news comes from a Marvel announcement of the Thor: Ragnarok cast, which also includes the previously confirmed Cate Blanchett as the villain Hela, and confirms that, as many fans suspected, Creed's Tessa Thompson will be playing Valkyrie. Jaimie Alexander's Lady Sif wasn't mentioned in the press release, but from the actress's own statements, we can still expect her in the film:

Opening quote
"The continuation of the epic Thor franchise will be powerful and unique, and with the additions of Cate, Jeff, Tessa, Karl, and Mark to the cast we have the makings of his most dangerous and heroic adventure yet," said Kevin Feige in a press release (via Slashfilm). "The sheer, raw talent each of these actors brings to the screen can't be quantified. Having any one of them join the Marvel Cinematic Universe would be an honor, and having all of them is incredible."
Closing quote

Thor: Ragnarok hits theaters on July 28, 2017.
