Geoff Johns Confirms His Involvement in Ben Affleck’s Solo Batman Movie
It's been widely rumored since before the release of BatmanSuperman that Ben Affleck and Geoff Johns would be working together to craft the next solo Batfilm. As time went on, more and more information concerning the film was confirmed, such as the fact that Affleck had indeed signed on to act and direct in the movie, and was also working on a script. Though this may come as little surprise to most DC fans who've kept up with the news regarding the project, now Johns has confirmed his involvement, as well as detailed what exactly his role as the chief creative officer of DC Comics actually entails.

Opening quote
'I do get to say I'm working on Batman with Ben Affleck,' he said with a smile. 'That gets the Thanksgiving table excited, especially my brother.'

'My job is to help other Warner Bros. divisions work with DC. I work with Warner TV and producers to get these shows up and running, in particular with The Flash, where I co-created the show, wrote a few episodes, wrote the pilot episode,' Johns said. 'I work with other people, Ames Kirshen in games, the studios like Rocksteady and NetherRealm, go in there on character choices, story they're going to do and brainstorm on that, try to keep it true to comics.'
Closing quote

Of course, most DC fans will be delighted to hear that Johns is officially working with Affleck on the next solo Batman film. Johns is a widely beloved author who's known for accentuating the core characteristics of the superheroes he works with, using them in new and innovative ways, all the while staying true to what makes those characters so unique in the first place. He's the author of DC Universe: Rebirth, hitting stores tomorrow, and has had over a five year run on Justice League. He's also the author of the critically acclaimed Batman: Earth One, which he's supposedly crafting the third volume for now.

Johns has had experience in the movie industry as well, interning under the legendary Richard Donner before bursting into the comics industry. Perhaps with his expertise in all things DC, the next Batman film could be as brilliant as Donner's Superman, which is believed by many to be one of the greatest superhero films of all time. Maybe he can even turn around this Batman's image as a murderer by placing an emphasis on a newfound regard for human life (like he has in the comics, the cartoons, the animated films, etc.).

The author also stated that he didn't have the right to disclose his full role as one of the new leading decision makers of the DCEU, but from everything he's said about his vision so far, it seems like DC fans certainly have a reason to be excited about his heavy involvement in the DC films moving forward.
