It's being described as Romeo and Juliet in space, but that probably doesn't accurately describe Peter Chesholm's new sci-fi drama, The Space Between Us. The upcoming movie stars Asa Butterfield (Ender's Game) and Britt Robertson (Tomorrowland) as a couple of teens who are, admittedly, at least a little bit star-crossed, but there's a little more at work here than there was in Shakespeare's classic romance.

Butterfield plays Gardner Elliot, a teenage boy who was born in Mars after his astronaut mother travelled on the first colonization mission to the red planet without realizing she was with child. When Gardner's mother dies in childbirth, he's raised by the scientists and astronauts that make up the first Martian colony. Unfortunately for Gardner, Mars isn't the most exciting environment to be a teen, but the trip to Earth he so desperately wants is off the cards thanks to the fact his body would be unable to cope with Earth's gravity. However, when Gardner meets Robertson's Tulsa online, he decides to stowaway on a ship bound for Mars so he can meet her and experience all the wonders of Earth...much to the dismay of the people responsible for his wellbeing.

Check out the trailer below, but be warned that it does give away A LOT of the movie's plot.
