The star of the original Transformers was undoubtedly Autobot leader, Optimus Prime, but when the franchise moved to the big screen fame was granted to a very different type of Autobot. Bumblebee might not have been the most powerful tool in the Autobot locker, but what he lacked in weaponry he made up for with personality, and while Optimus was very much the big ticket, it was clear Paramount wanted to make Bumblebee into more of a star. However, this wasn't the Bumblebee we all knew and loved from the cartoons. In Michael Bay's first big screen Transformers effort, we were given a nod to B's humble cartoon beginnings as a VW Beetle, but since then the plucky Autobot has been sporting a more sporty look on the big screen.

Transformers 5 aka Transformers: The Last Knight is now in production and over the weekend Director Michael Bay took the time to share Bumblebee's new look for the movie.

As is to be expected, Bumblebee is sporting a riff on the latest Chevrolet Camaro, which in this instance is the 2016 model seen below.

Of course, what this doesn't tell us is what modifications Bumblebee will have in his humanoid form, but it's likely that the Autobot engineers will have added a few bells and whistles, especially given the fact he's getting his own spin-off movie in 2018.

Elsewhere in Transformers news, Bay also revealed that Sir Anthony Hopkins has been added to the cast list for the 2017 movie.

Hopkins joins Mark Wahlberg, who returns from his leading role in Transformers: Age of Extinction while Josh Duhamel and Tyrese Gibson are also thought to be making a return to the franchise.

Transformers: The Last Knight is released in theaters on June 23rd 2017
