The Team Behind Apollo 13 Are Reuniting For an Ambitious New Sci-Fi Movie
It's been over two decades since Ron Howard, Bill Broyles and Brian Grazer gave us the award winning, real-life thrill-ride that is Apollo 13, but now that same Director, Writer, Producer team is reuniting for an exciting new Sci-Fi project. The trio of Hollywood power players are taking on the ambitious task of adapting Neal Stephenson's best-selling sci-fi novel 'Seveneves' for the big screen.

Released in 2015, Seveneves is initially set on a near future Earth that faces a race against time when the planet is in immediate danger of a major catastrophic event. Knowing that their only chance for survival is to unite, the many nations of humanity come together to put in action an ambitious plan for a human exodus into space. After fast-fowarding a few thousand years, Stephenson paints a picture of a human race that has evolved to life in space, living among a number of different alien species. But the call to return to home is strong, and 5,000 years after humanity left Earth, plans are put into place to return to that pale blue dot we will always call home.

As you can tell from the brief overview, this is a project of huge scope, and many fans of Stephenson's work will be relieved to see it in such capable hands. Bill Broyles has written a number of major hits over the years, including Castaway and Jarhead, while Grazer's Imagine Entertainment can count the likes of Rush and A Beautiful Mind to its list of credits. Meanwhile, Ron Howard is currently wrapping up work on the Da Vinci Code and Angels & Demons sequel, Inferno.

This project is still in its infancy, but if you've not yet gotten around to reading Stephenson's brilliant novel, passing the time until its adaptation could be the perfect excuse.
