John Williams "Expects" to Return to Score Star Wars: Episode VIII
Joh Williams' score is one of the most iconic parts of the Star Wars franchise, and it just wouldn't be the same without it. So it's a relief, if not a surprise, that Williams is planning to return to the franchise for Episode VIII.

While accepting the (well-deserved) AFI Lifetime Achievement Award last night, he revealed his plans to return, as well as his unexpectedly adorable reasoning:
Opening quote
"If I can do it, I certainly will," Williams said at the AFI event (via Variety). "I told Kathy Kennedy I'm happy to do it, but the real reason is, I didn't want anybody else writing music for Daisy Ridley."
Closing quote

Williams has had a busy few years, as per usual, writing music for Star Wars: The Force Awakens, and, more recently, The BFG. He will next score sci-fi adaptation Ready Player One and yet another Indiana Jones sequel for Steven Spielberg, but after that is expected to return to Star Wars. And luckily for all of us, he has absolutely no plans to retire.

Opening quote
"Steven expects me to work until I'm 100," he said.
Closing quote

As do we all, John Williams, as do we all.
