New Suicide Squad TV Spots Released
This summer's going to be a big one for DC Comics, with Rebirth just kicking off, a huge SDCC takeover upcoming, the animated adaptation of the Killing Joke being released, and of course, the premiere of Suicide Squad, one of the most anticipated films of 2016. While fans may have been a bit skeptical upon first seeing Jared Leto's tatted Joker, the footage that's been released so far has done a bang up job at putting their worries to rest. Now, even more footage has been released in these brand new TV spots.

While none of this footage is really anything groundbreaking compared to what's already been seen, there are a few extra shots of Leto's Joker and a scene in which Rick Flagg attempts to hug Deadshot. New lines by Leto's Joker can also be heard, as he says in one of the spots "It's so intense!"

There's also some other attempts at humor thrown in the trailers, but without context, it's a bit hard to tell if the humor itself is actually anything noteworthy (though the Enchantress bit with the politician saying "please don't touch me" was fun). With characters like the Joker and Harley Quinn sharing some of the spotlight in the film, it's a given that some darker comedy will likely be featured. However, it seems that Ayer's going for some lighter comedy as well with this one, which ought to mesh with the violent, irreverent aesthetic that Suicide Squad seems to have going for it (and that it has going for it in the comic as well).

After BatmanSuperman achieved relatively limited success, WB's got a lot riding on Suicide Squad. This'll be the movie to show people that the DCEU isn't just Snyder's ultra-dark take on superheroes, and as such, it needs to be able to pull that feat off in a really big way. Luckily, with the cast and creative talent behind the film, it looks like it just might be able to do just that.

Suicide Squad premieres on August 5th of 2016.
