Report: AMC Threatens to Sue Fan Site for Negan Speculation
After the season six finale, there's only one thing Walking Dead fans want to know: who met Lucille? Of all the disappointing aspects of the godawful cliffhanger finale, one of the most frustrating parts was that set photos and leaks from the filming of season seven would surely reveal which character wouldn't return. And even though we pretty much already know who it is, AMC is working overtime to make sure it isn't confirmed, even going so far as to threaten fan sites with lawsuits if they even speculate about the finale cliffhanger.

The Spoiling Dead Fans page has been known to reveal lots of intel about The Walking Dead, some of which turns out to be completely true. Now, the site has released a letter to their readers on their Facebook page, explaining why they will no longer be speculating about Negan's kill:
Opening quote
Well Buttercups, we have some sad news to share today. After two years, AMC finally reached out to us! But it wasn't a request not to post any info about the Lucille Victim or any type of friendly attempt at compromise, it was a cease and desist and a threat of a lawsuit by AMC Holdings, LLC's attorney, Dennis Wilson. They say we can't make any type of prediction about the Lucille Victim. Their stance is that making such a prediction would be considered copyright infringement. AMC tells us that we made some claim somewhere that says we received "copyright protected, trade secret information about the most critical plot information in the unreleased next season of The Walking Dead" and that we announced we were going to disclose this protected information. We still aren't sure where we supposedly made this claim because they did not identify where it was.
Closing quote

They go on to say that they can't even speculate, let alone reveal, which character Negan killed, because if they turn out to be right, then AMC has threatened to sue. There's no way to verify that this actually happened, of course, but if it did, AMC is going to crazy lengths to keep this a secret. Which is pretty ridiculous, since it's going to come out sooner or later (and probably already has), and is especially ridiculous if these claims of harassment are true:

Opening quote
Please respect our decision not to put our livelihoods at risk. AMC has been harassing us for four days now by contacting our homes, our family members and our employers; even posting on this page and personal social media accounts. We are fans of this show just like you and aren't a commercial operation that makes profit. We have families and careers to think about. No spoiler will ever be worth compromising those things.
Closing quote

At the end of the day, this is just a TV show, so hopefully no real consequences come out of this. But either way, I'm sure we'll be hearing which character died fairly soon, because we all know it's just a matter of time.
