Supergirl Just Found Its Superman
After we learnt that The CW's Supergirl would be bringing Kal-El to the show, comments sections across the internet lit up with the usual casting requests. In fact, it seemed like just about every actor with a jaw that looked remotely chiseled was being linked with the role, but we can almost guarantee that none of you suggested the name Tyler Hoechlin.

Ok, that's a bit unfair because actually, if you're a fan of Teen Wolf, you might just have thrown his name into the ring for this role. Certainly, to look at him Hoechlin looks every bit the Kryptonian superhero, and he's got the experience necessary to take on this mighty DC Comics role.

Hoechlin got his big break playing Tom Hanks' son in Road to Perdition, but it's likely that most will know him from his time spent on the show, 7th Heaven, where he played Martin Brewer. After that, Hoechlin's career went fairly quiet for a few years before he secured the role of Teen Wolf's powerful Werewolf, Derek Hale. Hoechlin's most recent work can be seen in Richard Linklater's Everybody Wants Some, and on top of his new job on Supergirl, he's also expected to appear in the next two (yes two) Fifty Shades of Grey movies.

Opening quote
"Greg [Berlanti] and I have wanted to work with Tyler for ages, so this worked out perfectly because Tyler is Superman," said Supergirl EP Andrew Kreisberg. "We are so thrilled and humbled to add another amazing actor to the legacy of this iconic character."
