Jena Malone's Character in Batman v Superman Is a Huge Letdown
Ever since it was revealed that Jena Malone's mysterious character was cut from the Batman v Superman theatrical release, there has been intense fan speculation that she is playing a version of Barbara Gordon, aka Batgirl. But now, it looks like all that secrecy was for nothing, as she's playing a comics character so obscure it barely counts as an Easter egg.

According to the recent leaked plot details, Malone's part is rather mundane, as she plays a scientist from S.T.A.R. labs who gives Lois some info about that ill-advised magic bullet subplot. Now, a video that was subsequently removed from Youtube (via Comicbook.com), showed the end credits naming Malone's character as Jenet Klyburn, an extremely minor character in DC Comics who helped out Superman and Teen Titans.

If this is true, and it probably is, then it's very strange that they felt the need to keep it a secret. At least Michael Cassidy's Jimmy Olsen Easter egg was a recognizable name, and even Mercy Graves is pretty well-known (although both characters were done a disservice). It's also weird that Warner Bros. seemed to accidentally confirm that Malone was Barbara Gordon at one point, but it's possible that a lower-level person just made a mistake.

Batman v Superman: Ultimate Edition comes out digitally on July 18 and on Blu-ray on July 19.
