Wonder Woman Lynda Carter Joins Supergirl as Female President of the United States
Well, this is kind of perfect. Supergirl has just cast former Wonder Woman Lynda Carter for the second season, and she's playing none other than the female President of the United States.

The POTUS (who will hopefully be modeled after Hillary Clinton at least a little bit) will make her first appearance in the third episode of the season, and then will recur thereafter. Executive producers Greg Berlanti and Andrew Kreisberg previously stated that they wanted to include Carter in the first season of Supergirl, but couldn't work out the logistics. Kreisberg said they hoped to bring her in this year, but this is the first official confirmation that talks were successful this time around.

"We had the perfect role for Lynda Carter, and we couldn't work out her schedule. That's the biggest disappointment for me for this entire season," Berlanti told reporters at a press event last March (via CBR), before adding, "She's the female president of the United States."

Carter played Wonder Woman in the television series from 1975 to 1979. Her performance was widely acclaimed by critics and fans alike, and is probably the most iconic version of the superhero, although we'll see what happens with Gal Gadot, who was also praised for her performance in Batman v Superman. Carter, for her part, welcomed Gadot's addition to the DCEU.

Opening quote
"I think it's time. It's cool, it's very cool. It just adds to the charm and the legend," she said of the new incarnation of Diana Prince.
Closing quote

Supergirl will return for season two on The CW, rather than CBS, this fall. Carter's first episode is expected to air in late October.
