Viola Davis Wanted to Pepper Spray Jared Leto After Suicide Squad Antics
Jared Leto's antics on the set of Suicide Squad have become the most notorious part of the movie's folklore, especially his gifts to his castmates. JokerLeto sent his fellow squad members thoughtful presents like live rats, dead pigs, bullets, anal beads, and porn magazines. It originally seemed like Viola Davis, who plays Squad overseer Amanda Waller, was immune, but it turns out she received a box of bullets from her colleague. And unsurprisingly, she did not seem to find it amusing.

Opening quote
"It was a little worrisome," Davis told E! News. "It made you a little bit nervous and I'm pretty tough. You know I got into a few fights when I was growing up...but it scared me a little bit."
Closing quote

And since Leto was always in character as the Joker on set, she felt unnerved when she met him for the first time out of costume at a Glamour magazine event.

Opening quote
"Before that I was only introduced to The Joker...and I almost had my pepper spray out. You know, 'You remember that bullet you sent me?'"
Closing quote

Some have been denouncing Leto's method acting from the start, while I think it mostly depends on his colleagues' feelings about it. If they were fine with it, then I wouldn't see much of an issue, but it sounds like Davis was legitimately frightened by Leto's antics, which makes them much more questionable.

Although, to be fair, she said that all of the actors went a little crazy on set, since they were playing such crazy characters:

Opening quote
"Every single person in it gets to be completely insane because all the characters are insane," Davis said. "They're bad guys. We're all bad guys."
Closing quote

We believe that, not only after the rumors about Leto's behavior, but after the reports that there was a therapist on hand to talk the cast members through filming and that David Ayer made the cast punch each other on set. Who wouldn't go a little crazy after that?

"It got so crazy that there were times during filming that I had heart palpitations," she continued, "not only heart palpitations but at one point I said, 'Did I suffer from hearing loss?'"
