Fox Hopes to Film Deadpool 2 Early Next Year
Fox is just coming off of X-Men: Apocalypse, but several other X-Men movies are already in the works, including the highly anticipated follow-up to this year's surprise hit, Deadpool. Fox's Simon Kinberg gave an update on the movie's production in an interview with Collider, and according to the producer, the sequel should be filming in early 2017.

Opening quote
"[Paul] Wernick and [Rhett] Rheese are working on the script, and we hope to have a script very soon... We hope to shoot the movie sometime at the beginning of next year."
Closing quote

Kinberg also gave a general update on the future of the X-Men universe, reiterating their intent to make a New Mutants movie and claiming that they're still "really serious" about making a Gambit movie, whatever that means. And regarding Wolverine 3, he said, "I can only tell you that it's going extremely well." Which is encouraging, if not terribly specific.

And finally, Kinberg gave an update on the two X-Men shows that are currently in the works, Hellfire and Legion:

Opening quote
"Hellfire we're really trying to figure out. Legion we're well into, because we've shot the pilot. And Noah Hawley, who created Fargo, [and] is the showrunner/creator of Legion, he wrote and directed the pilot, which is extraordinary and unlike anything else you will ever see in the genre."
Closing quote

From the news so far, it seems that Hellfire is still early in development, and might even be entering development hell at this point. Legion, on the other hand, is moving forward, and will star Dan Stevens and Aubrey Plaza. We're incredibly excited for that one, if only because it's been described as the Breaking Bad of superhero shows.

X-Men: Apocalypse is now out in theaters.
