Director McG has been circling a new Masters of the Universe movie for Sony for a while now, and now he may have found his He-Man... maybe.

Actor Kellan Lutz tweeted on Friday, June 24, that he met with the director about the film. Although he didn't specifically say he discussed taking on the lead role, he did tweet at a fan site that is pushing for just that.

Some fans of the property may be less than psyched about the prospect of Lutz leading the film. The actor has already played iconic characters in two films that were box office bombs and critical disasters in 2013's Tarzan and 2014's The Legend of Hercules. So he hasn't yet proven that he can carry a big budget film, let alone one with possible franchise potential like Masters of the Universe. Then again, the last Masters of the Universe movie starred Dolph Lundgren and also bombed, so it's not like Lutz would be messing with anything sacred. At this point, a He-Man movie seems very far away, so we wouldn't be too concerned about any meetings until we learn something more concrete.
