Barkhad Abdi Joins the Cast of Blade Runner 2
Some 23 years after the original movie came to theaters, the sequel to Ridley Scott's Blade Runner is fast approaching production. After Harrison Ford agreed to reprise his role as Deckard, the production soon added the likes of Ryan Gosling, Robin Wright, and Guardians of the Galaxy star, Dave Bautista. Dennis Villeneuve is set to direct the sequel, and with production now just a matter of weeks away, Barkhad Abdi has become the latest name to be added to the ever-growing cast.

Abdi is best known for his breakout performance in Captain Phillips, which earned him an Academy Award nomination for Best Supporting Actor. Since then, Abdi has gone on to secure roles in productions such as Gavin Hood's critically acclaimed thriller, Eye in the Sky, and Sascha Baron Cohen's most-recent cringe-fest, The Brothers Grimsby. However, Blade Runner will arguably be the biggest production the Somalian actor has appeared on to date.

Written by Hampton Francher (Blade Runner) and Michael Green (Heroes), Blade Runner 2 will finally give us an answer to the age-old question of whether or not Deckard is a replicant. In fact, Ridley Scott has already come out and answered that question, so if you don't mind being spoiled you can see what he said here. Other than that little tidbit, not much is known about the plot of the sequel so far. However, with production starting next month, we might start learning more about the highly-anticipated story very soon.
