The Walking Dead Stars Appear at the Universal Studios Attraction Unveiling
The Walking Dead's Universal Studios attraction officially opens to the public on July 4, but the horror maze was unveiled yesterday for a group of lucky fans and press. In addition to seeing all of the animatronic walkers a few days early, those fans were treated to appearances from cast members and executive producer/special effects wizard Greg Nicotero.

Cast members have been known to show up at the Walking Dead attraction at Halloween Horror Nights each year, so it's no surprise that several made it to the opening of this even more elaborate creation. In addition to Nicotero, fans and media members got to see Scott Wilson (Hershel), Ross Marquand (Aaron), Michael Traynor (Nicholas), Kyla Kenedy (Mika), and Brighton Sharbino (Lizzie).

Traynor, who participated in the 2015 Halloween Horror Nights maze, admitted that he was legitimately scared by the event:

Opening quote
"I know I'm going to scream like a little girl because that's what I do when these things bop out of the woodwork," Traynor told Huffington Post. "I did it on the show, I'd ruin takes …. but I'm genuinely frightened by this thing."

For the actual attraction, fans were treated to a horde of 100 ultra-realistic animatronic walkers that are made from actual models from the show. The attraction has re-created iconic scenes from the show, including the "bicycle walker" from the pilot, the "God forgive us" scene from season one, and Daryl and Beth's foray into pyromania, which includes fake fire that emits actual heat.

Opening quote
"After six years of working on 'The Walking Dead,' we have this great opportunity to take 'The Walking Dead' out of the studio, off the soundstage and into this amazing and truly one-of-a-kind attraction at Universal Studios Hollywood," Nicotero told Comicbook.com. "Guests can now come face-to-face with live and animatronic Walkers that are indiscernible from the Walkers from the show. It's very exciting, and I am thrilled to be a part of it."
