Marvel Comics Announces New "Divided We Stand" Era After Civil War II
Marvel has been teasing its new Marvel NOW! series in the fall with several enigmatic teasers in the last few weeks, which all contained the words "Divided We..." Now, Marvel has finally finished their sentence, and has announced the new "Divided We Stand" era following the events of Civil War II.

Marvel NOW!

The teaser image, illustrated by Mike Deodato, features two distinct sides of the aftermath of the war. The left side is led by Victor Von Doom, who is ominously holding Iron Man's helmet, joined by Solo, Foolkiller, Jessica Jones, Quake, Captain Marvel, Elektra, Thor, Fin Fang Foom, Slapstick, Captain America (Steve Rogers), Black Panther, Gamora and Cable. The other side is led by Riri Williams in her homemade armor, joined by Gwenpool, Mosaic, Miss America Chavez, Squirrel Girl, Wasp, Prowler, Moon Girl, Hawkeye (Kate Bishop), the Hulk, Spider-Man (Miles Morales), Ms. Marvel, and Doctor Strange.

There's a lot to unpack in this image, especially since Civil War II only has two issues out so far. Several heroes who feature prominently in Civil War are missing, such as Deadpool and Daredevil, but that's not nearly as worrisome as Iron Man, who is not only missing but seems to have lost his helmet to Doom. In all likelihood, Marvel wouldn't have released this if it were a huge spoiler, but Marvel Editor-in-Chief Axel Alonso did state that they wanted to get fans speculating:

Opening quote
"This is not an event," he told Co-Create of Divided We Stand. "It's the status quo of the Marvel Universe in the aftermath of the war," Alosno says. "It's a glimpse as to whom we can point to in the coming year, with just enough 'What the heck's going on there' spots to get people speculating. 'There's no Tony Stark in that picture, but who's that guy holding the helmet? Is that Doctor Doom?' 'The young girl in the gray armor looks a lot like the new War Machine.'"
