New Mad Max: Fury Road Box-Set Will Include George Miller's Preferred Black and White Version
Mad Max: Fury Road was one of the big cinematic sensations of 2015, securing plaudits from fans and critics alike, and even won an Oscar or six. But as we all found out earlier this year, the version we saw wasn't even director George Miller's preferred version. While the cinematic release was full of all the dusty reds and oranges that have become synonymous with the Mad Max franchise, George Miller claimed he preferred a version that was void of all color.

Opening quote
"The best version of 'Fury Road' was what we called a 'slash dupe': a cheap, black-and-white version of the movie for the composer, Millar told LA Times. "Something about it seemed more authentic and elemental. So I asked Eric Whipp, the colorist, 'can I see some scenes in black and white with quite a bit of contrast?' They looked great. So I said to the guys at Warners, 'can we put a black-and-white version on the DVD?' There wasn't enough room. [It'll end up] on another version with commentary and other features."
Closing quote

It's almost 7 months since Miller dropped that revelation, and we're all still waiting impatiently for the 'Black and Chrome' version to be released. But, hope may be on the horizon, because Amazon's German site now has a listing for a Mad Max: High Octane Collection has come online. As well as all four Mad Max movies, the new box-set also contains the full Black and Chrome version of Fury Road.

The German release is slated as September 29th, which means we'll hopefully be getting it in the US at some point this fall.
