Pacific Rim 2 Gets a New Release Date
Those who've kept up with the news regarding Pacific Rim 2 know that it's had quite the rocky pre-production phase. However, the film still continues to move forward as a new release date has been set: February 23, 2018.

Pacific Rim was the Guillermo del Toro film that featured giant robots fighting giant monsters. It did moderately well in the U.S. and better abroad. The sequel had been delayed a handful of times, but it looks like things might finally be starting to come together with the recent announcement that Star Wars leading man John Boyega would be starring in PR 2 and with the new release date being attached to the project.

Steven S. DeKnight is set to direct the film with del Toro staying on as producer. DeKnight is probably best known for his works on the TV series Spartacus and, of course, the beloved Netflix Daredevil series.

Currently, Pacific Rim 2 is the only film set for a February 23, 2018 release date, but it's also almost two years away. Hopefully, however, the film will fare well at the box office regardless, and the beloved robot/monsters mash-up series can continue.
