John Carpenter Really Isn't a Fan of The Walking Dead
John Carpenter is considered by many in Horror circles as royalty, but he might have angered a number of his loyal subjects with a comment about one of the biggest shows in the genres history.

The Walking Dead isn't just the biggest thing to happen to Horror in the last few years, it's also one of the biggest things to happen to TV. Though it doesn't always keep its fans satisfied, AMC's zombie drama consistently racks up huge amounts of viewers, proving that it can ride out the odd piece of criticism. But, how will horror fans respond when the man who gave us genre greats such as 'Halloween', 'They Live' and 'The Thing' criticizes their favorite show?

In an interview on WTF with Marc Maron, Carpenter slammed The Walking Dead by suggesting they are simply ripping off George Romero's Night of the Living Dead.

Opening quote
"[The Walking Dead] was a movie that George Romero made back in 1968. And they have milked that, and they are still milking it."
Closing quote

What do you make of Carpenter's comments? Is The Walking Dead a mere rip-off of Romero's classic? Certainly it would seem that, if The Walking Dead is a rip-off, half the zombie genre is guilty of the same?
