Anna Kendrick Wants to Play Marvel's Squirrel Girl
Well, this would be amazing. Anna Kendrick has thrown her name in the ring for a superhero role in a potential movie or TV show, and it's none other than Squirrel Girl.

In a new interview with Net-a-Porter, the Pitch Perfect and Up in the Air star discussed her positive working relationship with the "lovely" Ryan Reynolds, and claimed that he worked tirelessly to get Deadpool made because "it's a character that was inside of him." When asked which superhero was meant for her, she responded with another Marvel favorite:

Opening quote
"My brother sent me a Squirrel Girl comic because he thinks I should [play her]. I don't know what Squirrel Girl does other than be half squirrel, but I could be half squirrel!"
Closing quote

In the comics, Doreen Green, aka Squirrel Girl, has several squirrel-related abilities, including the ability to communicate with squirrels, heightened reflexes, retractable claws and knuckle spikes, a prehensile tail, and strong teeth that can chew through wood. None of these are especially impressive superpowers, but it's a running joke in the Marvel universe that she can take down much more powerful villains and heroes, through pure intellect and ingenuity. As of now, she has taken down the likes of Thanos, Wolverine, Doctor Doom, Deadpool, and more.

Although she's a young girl in the comics, Kendrick would make a perfect older version of Squirrel Girl. Like Deadpool, Squirrel Girl is a fan favorite and immensely likable, with a sense of humor that would fit Kendrick's public persona to a tee. There's no word on a TV show or movie yet, but Marvel has registered the trademark, which they usually only do if they have plans for a character. Her own solo movie might be too much to hope for, but since she was recently Luke Cage and Jessica Jones' nanny in the comics, perhaps she could get a Netflix show or an appearance in one of the existing Defenders series.
