Marvel's Doctor Strange Prequel Comic Includes First Look at Mads Mikkelsen's Villain
The first half of Doctor Strange's official prequel comic came out today, and it follows none other than Mads Mikkelsen's villainous character, which has finally been confirmed to be (*drumroll*) Kaecilius.

We're not entirely surprised, since his identity was accidentally revealed by a toy tie-in, but this is still a very odd choice. Kaecilius is a relatively minor character in the comics, and is a disciple of Baron Mordo, who is played by Chiwetel Ejiofor in the film. And yet, Kaecilius is intended to be the primary villain rather than Mordo, which may mean that Mordo will be more of an antihero/ally, or that he's being set up to be the main villain of future films.

The comics also gave us our first close-up look at the character as he appears in the film:

We've already seen Mads Mikkelsen in set photos and the trailer, but only for a few brief seconds. This gives us a full look at his appearance and costume, as well as a mystical staff that can harness the power of darkness (which may play into the movie, or may be an Agent Carter tie-in to dark energy), and the small scythe-like knives he uses in combat:

Doctor Strange comes out in theaters on November 4.
