Gambit to Begin Filming in Early 2017
Pre-production of Gambit has been riddled with troubles, to say the least. It's been delayed a few times already, and there were even a few moments where many fans were questioning whether it would even continue with development. Now, however, producer and writer Simon Kinberg has gone on the record about Fox's plans for the film and when they hope to begin the actual filming part of production. Here's what he had to say when The Hashtag Show recently asked him about the film:

Opening quote
We have a great script on that and hope to shoot that movie at the beginning - or spring - of next year.
Closing quote

Channing Tatum was cast in the role of Gambit two years ago, though some were wondering about whether or not he would stay on with all of the problems that've come up regarding the film. Tatum has also been named by Mark Millar as his choice to play Huck in the upcoming adaptation of the recent Millarworld comic, though there hasn't been any news as of yet that Millar's casting dream will become a reality. With Tatum's recent popularity, it wouldn't be hard to imagine that there's quite a few franchises that would like to get him on board as well. Yet Tatum still remains X-Men's Gambit (replacing Taylor Kitsch from X-Men Origins: Wolverine).

Concerning Fox's other Marvel films, Kinberg mentioned that they were still filming Wolverine 3 at the moment, and that they hope to get to work filming Deadpool early next year as well. He also mentioned that he's hard at work penning the next installment in the central X-Men series, so it looks like Apocalypse's poor performance with critics hasn't slowed the studio down from pursuing more installments.

The release date for Gambit is still unknown, but Fox did mention that they have two prescheduled release dates planned in March and June of 2018, and it's quite possible that Gambit could end up taking on of those slots.
