Idris Elba Discusses His Star Trek Villain (VIDEO)
In a year that's already seen Batman v Superman, Deadpool, Captain America: Civil War, X-Men: Apocalypse, and Ghostbusters, it's almost easy to forget that there's another Star Trek movie arriving in just a couple of weeks (there's also a new Star Wars movie coming in December, but let's be honest, no one's forgetting that). Star Trek: Beyond features much of the cast from the first two rebooted Star Trek films, and adds Idris Elba as Krall, the film's scary new villain. Now, the English actor is sharing some details about the mysterious character in a new featurette.

"Krall is very complex," Elba says of his character. "When you meet him, you go, 'Oh! Here's our bad guy.' ... He is damaged, but there's some empathy toward him. We want to understand why he's got such beef with the federation."

Elba also discusses how Krall will go down in the halls of classic Star Trek villains. "Watching the Enterprise crash and burn felt like I was destroying a legacy," he says. "Krall is certainly going to be remembered for that."

Check out the clip below, where director Justin Lin, writer Simon Pegg, and star Chris Pine also share tidbits on the character.
