Aside from some exciting casting announcements and the constant tease of finding out Rick Deckard's human/Replicant status, the Blade Runner sequel has been shrouded in secrecy. Now, we finally have the first concept art for the film, which previews a future that might be even more dystopian than the first film:

While sharing this concept art, director Denis Villeneuve confirmed that the movie once again took place in Los Angeles, but several decades after the events of the first film. And by this point, Los Angeles has spread to most of the West Coast, and the environment has become dangerous to humans.

Opening quote
"The climate has gone berserk - the ocean, the rain, the snow is all toxic," Villeneuve told EW.

And in the spirit of world-building, the vehicle seen in the concept art is a sort of futuristic snowblower, which flies over the streets and destroys snow from on high. "It's a Canadian wet dream!" the director joked.

The as-yet-untitled Blade Runner sequel stars Ryan Gosling and a returning Harrison Ford as Rick Deckard, as well as Robin Wright, Dave Bautista, and The Martian's Mackenzie Davis. The film is set to hit theaters on October 6, 2017.
