Injustice 2 Gets a New Trailer and More Character Confirmations
There's undoubtedly a lot of big game changers in the world of comic book video games today. Rocksteady has set an exceptionally high bar with their Arkham trilogy, and Telltale has been making phenomenal, story-driven comic book games featuring high profile properties like The Walking Dead, Fables, and starting August 2nd, Batman. NetherRealm belongs on this list of gamer changers as well, as they've brought totally new energy to the fighting genre with their game Injustice.

Injustice achieved more critical acclaim than any superhero fighting game in the recent past, featuring cinematic special moves and an awesome story mode that keeps players engaged and intrigued throughout the entire campaign. A sequel was practically inevitable, and so it came as no surprise when one was announced just a few short weeks back.

At SDCC, the Injustice 2 panel announced a lot of exciting news about what players can expect from the game when it drops. Though the gear system had already been discussed previously, they explained it in a bit more detail, outlining how the gear itself can be obtained through a tournament mode. It was also mentioned that certain gear can activate certain character cameos (Power Girl was mentioned in relation to a piece of Supergirl's gear, seeing as she's the Earth 2 counterpart of Kara Zor El).

Likewise, certain new characters were confirmed to appear in the game during the panel, such as Gorilla Grod and Blue Beetle (the Jamie Reyes iteration). Likewise, other characters were very heavily teased, such as Beast Boy, Zoom, and members of the Suicide Squad. Even more were mentioned as "possibilities" when asked about during the Q&A, like Red Hood and Static Shock. In addition, just as Scorpion from Mortal Kombat was a downloadable character for Injustice, a different member of the Mortal Kombat team is set to make an appearance as a DLC character at some point as well.

The panel also discussed how the story of Injustice 2 will be emphasized over other aspects - they're not interested in making just another fighting game. It was also said that the special moves are even more spectacular in the sequel, and that Aquaman's in particular would be topped by his new one (the first Injustice had him causing a tidal wave, forking a character with his trident, and then feeding them to a shark).

Injustice 2 is still a ways off, but NetherRealm is certainly doing a bang up job generating hype for it. If they stick to their guns and don't deviate too much from the style of the first game, Injustice 2 will certainly be something worth looking forward to. Judging by the new Wonder Woman centric trailer, it looks like it might do just that.
