Very First Wonder Woman Trailer Previews the Origins of Diana Prince
Wonder Woman made her DCEU debut in the divisive March blockbuster, Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice. Though not everyone loved the film, pretty much everyone did love Gal Gadot's spectacular take on Wonder Woman. From the looks of it, her show stealing performance was just a taste of what's to come judging from the very first trailer for Diana Prince's 2017 solo movie which just premiered in Hall H at SDCC moments ago.

The trailer spotlights Wonder Woman's origins as a hero of the world of men by showing a preview of her first encounter with pilot Steve Trevor. Likewise, her birth of clay is referenced as well, as she explains that she has no father - Zeus brought her to life. It looks like she'll be sticking with her pre-52 comic book origins after all, unless a plot twist reveals that Zeus really is her father (which is what was done at the inception of the New 52).

The action in the trailer looks near-perfect, with Wonder Woman taking on enemy combatants with her lasso and guarding against heavy artillery with nothing but her shield. Judging by the trailer, the choreography in the film could make Batman's warehouse beatdown in BvS look like child's play.

Though the dark overreaching tone of the DCEU is clearly present, it's good to see some humor put into the mix as well. With the recent reveal that Geoff Johns co-wrote the script, it has to make one wonder whether or not he was the one who came up with that "neat" line -- it certainly seems like his type of humor. Likewise, it looks like Wonder Woman's role as feminist icon will be on display as well, as exemplified by her line to Etta Candy about secretaries and slavery.

As this year marks the 75th anniversary of Wonder Woman's creation, it was only fitting that she should be celebrated at SDCC this year. What better way to do that than to screen the very first trailer for her upcoming solo film? This was just about everything that fans could have been hoping for for their first glimpse of Diana Prince's upcoming adventure, and we couldn't be more excited.

Wonder Woman hits theaters on June 2nd, 2017.
