Brie Larson Officially Confirmed as Captain Marvel at SDCC
This was the worst-kept secret in Hollywood, but it's still exciting to have it confirmed. Academy Award-winner Brie Larson has just been confirmed as Carol Danvers, aka Captain Marvel, in the MCU.

Larson had been previously rumored for the role, but was officially introduced to the ecstatic audience in Hall H today at San Diego Comic Con. Kevin Feige took the stage with the casts of Doctor Strange and Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 2, and then brought out Larson as the "newest member of the Marvel family."

Larson is relatively new to the geek world, as her first high-profile sci-fi credit is Kong: Skull Island, in which she will star alongside Tom Hiddleston. But she is already well-established as an amazing actor, with acclaimed performances in indies like Short Term 12 and Room, the latter of which garnered her an Oscar.

Captain Marvel is slated to hit theaters on July 6, 2018.
