Arrow’s Season 5 Trailer Shows Off Ollie’s New Team
Arrow started off strong with its groundbreaking first two season, but has since been on a bit of a decline. The writers and cast have made it clear that major changes are supposedly being made to redirect the show back into the style of its glory days, and at the WB TV panel at SDCC, they just gave fans their first glimpse of what that could look like.

There are a few particularly exciting things in this trailer, such as Green Arrow's new costume and a preview of Arrowette and Mister Terrific. Likewise, the choreography looks at least a tad bit improved, and it looks like as the final year of flashbacks wrap up, fans will finally get a look at how Ollie learned Russian (remember season 1?).

Ultimately, it seems that the show will likely suffer from a lot of the same problems it's run into in seasons 3 and 4. Instead of focusing on Ollie and his character development, it's clear that they're wanting the team dynamic to stick, as the trailer clearly shows Green Arrow training three different new recruits (having a sidekick is one thing, but does Green Arrow really need an entire street team to get anything done?). Likewise, Felicity's presence all but guarantees that there's going to be more annoying, terribly overdone relationship drama between the two, even if they do happen to stay apart.

Before season 4 began, the cast and crew promised to correct their mistakes from the latter half of season 3. Now, they're promising to correct their mistakes from season 4. At this point they seem a bit like politicians, getting their supporters hyped on promises they just can't or won't keep. Hopefully I'm wrong about that, and season 5 is the year things get back on track for the show that started it all for DC's CW TV universe. From the new trailer, however, it doesn't look like that's going to happen.

Arrow season 5 will premiere on October 5th on the CW.
